Corner applicators for drywall finish
Corner applicators and angle heads are the ATF tools that put compound on inside corners after the tape is in. They are not a corner knife with a hose. A production taper who runs a bazooka and boxes still needs a corner system or the inside corners become donated knife time. This page is for finish crews, not a punch bag with one corner knife.

Applicator vs angle head vs corner knife
Language in the trailer varies by shop. The work is the same: inside corners, a controlled amount of compound, a wipe that matches the flats.
Corner applicator. Charges the corner with compound from the pump or a loaded head. Some shops tape the corner with the automatic taper or by hand first, then apply.
Angle head / corner finisher. Wipes the corner in a pass. Different widths for fill and finish — confirm current sizes in the catalog. This page will not invent a width SKU.
Corner knife. Hand work. Punch, beads-adjacent details, and shops that do not run ATF. Still on every pouch. See knives, hawks, and pans.
Outside corners are bead, not an inside-corner head. Metal, vinyl, and paper-faced bead are a Finishing product. The applicator does not replace bead.
What matters in the trailer
- The corner has to be in plane. An applicator on a rolled stud or a missed fastener will photograph. That is a hang problem.
- Wear parts. Balls, springs, plates, and pads are wear. A dealer who stocks them is the relationship. A head that chatter is usually a worn part or a dirty head, not a new tool.
- Handle. Same extendable-handle logic as boxes. House 8-foot and a 10-foot corridor are different sticks. Stilts or a rolling bench still get the taper to height.
- Compound. The head has to move the mud you mixed. Follow the tool and compound manufacturers. Setting compounds are often a knife job.
A corner system does not make a Level 5. It makes the inside corner as fast as the flats. Critical light will still read a wavy hang.

A residential shop that buys one angle head and no applicator, no pump, and no parts does not have a corner system. It has a souvenir. Bid the kit with the boxes and the automatic taper.

Do we need applicators if we have a bazooka?
If you want production inside corners, yes. Otherwise the knife owns every corner and the rate dies.
Can a corner knife replace an angle head on commercial work?
